Area of Legal Concentration

Timothy has a strong skillset in all the major components of succession planning. Prior to joining SFBGG he was an Estate Tax Manager in Chicago
with both JP Morgan Chase and Deloitte LLP concentrating in estate and generation-skipping transfer tax compliance as well as post-mortem planning. Timothy also has eight years in private practice experience for law firms located in Schaumburg, Oak Park and Riverside where he primarily practiced in the areas of estate planning and estate administration.

In addition, he has experience administering decedent’s estates throughout Illinois including Cook, DuPage, McHenry and Lake counties. After admission to the Illinois Bar in 1998, Timothy began his legal career as an editor on the Federal Estate and Gift Tax Reporter for CCH.

Timothy also has a long background of representing clients in various tax matters. Timothy has drafted Private Letter Ruling Submissions and Determination Letters, receiving favorable outcomes for small and closely held businesses in the areas of tax-free spin-offs, split-offs and mergers. Timothy has also successfully defended clients in numerous estate and income tax audits.
